*Why should I allow a contractor to inspect my roof for damage?
You need to have an experienced contractor inspect your roof for hail damage to evaluate whether the damage warrants filing an insurance claim. Most of the time problems are discovered after damage has occurred from a leak. However, not all leaks produce visible damage immediately. Some leaks can take up to a year before showing any signs. For this reason it is important to have your roof inspected by a qualified contractor or roofing consultant at least once per year.
*Why do I need a contractor dealing with my insurance company?
Rhino Roofing personnel will inspect your roof and if the damage is not severe enough to warrant filing a claim for replacement-we will tell you! If you file a claim and the insurance company "denies" your claim, you will always show a claim on your record even though the insurance company did not pay. This applies even if you change insurance companies due to an insurance central database.
The insurance adjuster sent out to your home to evaluate damage, works FOR your Insurance Company with their best interest in mind. Also, in a catastrophic situation, insurance companies sub-contract to independent adjusters who may hire inexperienced personnel to evaluate your roof. Therefore, homeowners get shorted if they do not have a reputable contractor representing their best interest. By working with insurance companies everyday, we know what it takes to get you the maximum allowed to repair your roof.
*Will my homeowner's rates go up if I file a claim?
Insurance companies raise rates in a given zip code based on the number of claims from that area. Therefore, because of the large number of claims from a hail storm that hits your area, your rates will go up regardless of whether or not you file a claim.
*What about money asked for up front?
Make sure your roofing contractor does not ask for any money up front. It is OK to give a partial check when the materials arrive at the residence being roofed, but nothing before.
